What is cosmetic tattooing?

Cosmetic tattooing , also called Semi-Permanent Makeup or micro-pigmentation, is the process of implanting colour pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of a tiny, sterile, disposable needle to produce the appearance of cosmetic makeup or to enhance the natural features of the face.

How long does cosmetic tattooing last?

The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however it will fade over time and may need a touch-up every 1-2 years. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: the pigment colour used (lighter colours fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas. Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigment differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more ‘crisp’ look once healed on dry skin compared to more ‘blurry’ strokes on oily skin. I will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-ups appointment and make any changes necessary.

Touch-ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring 2 visits. The initial procedure is followed by a touch-up procedure if needed about 4-6 weeks later

Is the process painful?

Topical anaesthetics are used prior to the treatment to numb the area completely. They are continually applied throughout the treatment to make the process as comfortable as possible. The brows may sting slightly for an hour or so after the treatment and then they will be absolutely fine.

What if I don’t like it?

Prior to the treatment we meet and discuss your desires and then I draw a shape (according to the Fibonacci gauge). But it is your brow and you need to approve the shape before I begin. You will know what your brow will look like before the treatment begins and it is to be approved by you before starting the process

What type of pigment is used?

My pigments are the highest quality from the USA. All tested and proved for over 25 years. They are safe non-reactive substances. They are specifically manufactured for implanting into human skin. I choose the right pigment shade for your colouring. After the first appointment the colour will fade as the procedure heals. For the second treatment we gauge the colour acceptance and add the right shade of pigment accordingly to create the perfect brow for you.

Is there down time after the treatment?

The brows may be stinging slightly for the first hour or so.

How many treatments are needed?

Two treatments are usually needed, at least 4 weeks apart. Sometimes just one treatment is sufficient, but a touch-up appointment is recommended. With most procedures, the colour looks dramatically lighter after the first week. Some clients prefer this, while others opt for a bolder look. At the second treatment, I will assess the colour retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always darken and add more density at your next appointment.

How will I look immediately after? What is the healing process?

Your semi-permanent make-up will appear darker and bigger than expected for the first few days however they will gradually lighten during the complete healing process.

How much is the deposit?

A $200 deposit is required to book an appointment. The deposit is non-refundable and goes toward the total amount for your appointment.

My cancellation policy is a minimum of 48 hours and you will forfeit your deposit if contact with me is not made prior to your appointment. Please factor travel time and parking before your appointment.

Eye brows

The cost of treatments includes one FREE touch-up within 4-6 weeks of initial the procedure. I strongly suggest that all clients schedule a follow-up appointment. The touch-up appointment is intended to fill in any arears that may have been discoloured during healing process.

Final results cannot be determined until the follow touch-up appointment is completed. Pigment retention depends on skin type, age, aftercare, sun exposure and other factors. Annual touch-ups are recommended to prevent natural fading.
